ICAO Welcomes Resolving Of The Gulf Airspace Restrictions

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) reported this week that it welcomes the announcement of the easing of Gulf airspace restrictions.
“This decision on former Gulf restrictions will help ensure that the significant socio-economic benefits of international air connectivity can be better optimized among all countries concerned,” said Salvatore Sciacchitano, President of the Council.
“The role of ICAO is to work with and between sovereign States to provide more open skies globally and to continuously improve aviation safety, security and sustainability levels.”
ICAO Secretary General Dr. Fang Liu also welcomed the new developments in the Gulf and recalled that the ICAO Secretariat through its Regional Office in Cairo is quickly establishing emergency routes to ensure the safety and regularity of international flights in and out of Qatar. restrictions were imposed first.
“We are grateful for fulfilling this important role when prompted and helping to ensure that international air transport in affected areas remains as safe and efficient as possible while restrictions are in place,” he said.
